Talk About Arm Candy
05.10.16
Each year I try and revamp my wardrobe, shoes, and my accessories with the newest styles and trends. This year my focus was all about the time- watches that is. I’ve come to realize that I am somewhat of a watch hoarder; somehow I still have watches from grade school days. A good timeless piece can really get you far year to year. Being a college student I totally understand the struggles that comes with you want your wardrobe and style to look like and how your wallet allows your wardrobe to be. With that being said I truly believe every girl should invest on a piece that will not only make you feel “up-to-date” but also a piece that can be transported through each season, year after year.
After an unfortunate series of events on one of my cabin trips, one of my all time favorite watches broke beyond repair and it was devastating to say the least (over dramatic maybe, but I sure do love my watches). Of course with my luck the company discontinued the style and I was left to start my search for a new a watch. I promised myself this time around I would buy a piece that would be a littler more elevating than previous pieces that I typically found myself purchasing. After weeks of looking and searching, boy did I find a winner!
Through the grapevine I heard about this company that was concept was far from just sales and sleek pieces. Curious to know more I visited Original Grain’s website and instantly fell love. You would think that their hand-crafted wood and steel finish would be the selling point for me, but it wasn’t. If you know anything about me I am big on nature preservation initiatives and a big advocate for clean air campaigns. So what is it that drew my attention to Original Grain- their “Million Tree Challenge”. Partnering with Trees for the Future, Original Grain has made it a personal goal of theirs to mix business with my favorite pleasures. For every watch sold, 10 trees are planted- furthermore, this initiative will provide jobs and food for individuals all around the world. Now you can see why I 100% support the work being done here.
Outside of their imitative, Original Grain offers an array of styles curated for your every day look. My favorite collection contains the stainless steel style providing me with a polished, upscale look. Every time I wear my watch, not a day goes by where I am not asked where I got it from. That in itself speaks volumes- I love a piece that draws attention, even strangers. So if you’re looking to score on a great, original watch I would highly suggest Original Grain be your next investment!
Monochromatic Chic
04.06.16
From the Louis Vuitton to Alexander McQueen, Saint Laurent and Valentino the gods of fashion have spoken and it seems this spring the classic monochromatic look is in (not that it was ever out). From the runways of New York to Paris this year’s runway shows feature looks from traditional blacks to stark whites and everything in between.
In an effort to change up my style this chic look is versatile from a day at the office to happy hour drinks with the girls. This chiffon black and white striped blouse is light and offers enough coverage for those windy spring morning to those warm spring afternoons. Paired with a flirty white mesh skirt giving this look a mild feminine aesthetic. Don’t be afraid to accessorize with statement pieces like a gold watch and bracelet.

Springin’ in the Color
03.23.16
Some of my favorite things about spring are the blooming flowers, light wind and sunny weather mix, and more importantly the colors- not only around us but in pretty much every spring line. If you anything about me, the brighter the better, add a print to it then you have my whole closet. This spring is not one like the others; has anyone else realized how most of the trends are a little non traditional? Like velvet camis, sequins, cool sweater layering, etc. AH! This is why I fell in love with fashion at a mere 11 years old. Whoever created this books of “things to wear and not to wear” is rolling over in their grave. Gone are the times where you keep trenches in the fall, or whites before labor day, or even pattern mixing. The louder the better I always say. If you haven’t checked out his years Spring Report in InStyle, go pick yourself one TODAY! They are talking all personalities of fashion and I can assure you there is one you can relate to.
Spring in Georgia can be really tricky- although the sun is out don’t be deceived, the wind plays a big role in our everyday weather and brings a pretty chilling breeze even on the sunniest of days. My favorite go to styles are bright and vibrant light weight blouses paired with either a pair of my favorite denim or a cute miniskirt. On the colder days down here I tend carry around a third piece not only to add to my look but to also keep me warm. A good thing to carry in your bottomless bags (we all know big we like our purses) is a light pull over sweater to add dimensions to looks or a cool chic trench to tailor your look. Shoes are the harder battle. If you are anything like me, once my feet get cold my whole body is doomed and it takes forever for me to warm back up. My go to is a peep toe sandal or mule (which by the way, TOTALLY back in style) or just throw on a pair of my favorite d’orsey flats. On the warmer days I like to break out the cute strappy heels, sandals, or pointed toe pumps for a more formal occasion.
What ever your climate may be, be sure to stand out this spring. Don’t be accustomed to common fashion trends, be the one to break the mold and experiment, on clothes of course! 🙂 I’ll post a link to top spring styles that I have come across and have fallen in love with. New Year & Improved
03.20.16
Well, well, well. Hope you all didn’t miss me too much. Man has the last month been a world wind. With school, internships, and life changes it has been a month of learning and exploration. Anyways I am glad to be back and I am in full effect. First post back in a month is brought to you by all fresh spring styles, the weather is warming up and so am I! As the climate gets hotter, the shorter our hems get. How adorable is this detailed print romper?
Who doesn’t love a good romper, they are the most perfect spring transitions. Surviving the heat in Georgia is a skill, lol. The less you wear the cooler you are honestly. Rompers are my Spring and Summer go-to’s when the heat gets too unbearable. Try pairing your favorite jumpsuit or romper with a classic sandal or heel to fully accommodate yourself into the spring/summer months. Shop my look at the end of my post.

LUMBER”KAT”S + CABINS
02.12.16
Who doesn’t love a getaway to clear your head, temporarily leave behind all responsibilities, all the while having a breath taking view. There is something about the mountains that brings a certain calm over me. It’s as if everything that I have been stressing about disappears within the wisp of the mountain wind. With lodging, making s’mores, playing card games and just spending hours around the fire, I don’t think there is a better way I could have spent my weekend.
If you know anything about me I love doing activities outdoors and let’s just say I took real advantage to the mountain terrains and the all the awesome things Gatlinburg had to offer. Early morning jobs, long walks (with coffee in hand of course), hiking, and roaming around the town was exactly what I needed after such a stressful week. It didn’t hurt that our cabin was in the mountains with a killer view either.
Like any vacation, packing accordingly is key. I usually give myself about a week to a week and a half to start packing what I plan on bringing (I am NOT a last minute packer). For my mountain trip I decided to take expected route and pack chunky sweaters, tons of vests, hiking shoes, and flannels. LOTS AND LOTS OF FLANNELS. By the end of the trip, my friends and family deemed me as the lumberjack of the “Simple Elegance” cabin we were staying in; but honestly I didn’t mind. I mean look how adorable(& comfy) this look is. All the pieces in this post are on sale and let now is most definitely the time to snag them.
GIVEAWAY: Be sure to leave a comment on this post AND go to my instagram page (@cgitonga) to leave a comment about your favorite cabin look and you can win a $25 Old Navy gift card to snag yourself pieces to create your own look! (giveaway will end Wednesday, Febuary 17th 9 EST)

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK
1.20.16
Never did I ever think I would be seen in orange. I love bright color and patterns but for some reason orange has never been my color. Well, at least not until now! Last week I went on a sweater hunt in light of the “snowstorm” we are expected to get and boy did I hit the jackpot. This season I have been a huge fan of the cowl neck/turtle neck sweaters (and by a fan I mean I have become obsessed). I scored this tangerine turtle neck at Banana Republic for only $8! That’s right, you heard it right. EIGHT DOLLARS!!
I’ve found the best time to buy sweaters is after the hype is over. Most retailers are transitioning to their Spring lines (although it’s still FREEZING out) which ultimately means all holiday styles and sweaters are all on some type of crazy sales. So don’t wait! These deals are going fast.
NEW YEAR, SAME BEACH
1.4.16
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hey all, I hope you’ve all had a great holiday season and eaten enough to last you another month! I know I have! To welcome 2016 the right way I decided to plan a last minute beach getaway with my best friends and brother. Honestly it gave me a lot of time to think and kind of escape from my busy world; which is exactly what I needed in order to bring in the new year the right way.
So my New Years resolution this year is to be more adventurous, saying yes more than no and just living my life at 100% and nothing less. So first trip of the year was to the beach. I mean why not right? I couldn’t have thought of a better way to ring in the new year.
Day 2 has been nothing short of hilarious. From waking up late and almost missing breakfast, to taking pictures on the beach and accidentally pushing my cousin into the ice cold water.
Needless to say 2016 is off to a great start and I can’t wait for you guys to follow along BECAUSE…….
Styled MD is going through a fun change this year and I can’t wait to share it all with you

#PC HOLIDAY SOIREE
12.16.15
Bring on the holiday parties. With it being the season of giving, last week a few of my close blogger gals and I were given a special holiday treat by our lovely Allison from Peachfully Chic. Our lovely event was hosted by Dantanna’s. Known as Atlanta’s very own upscale sports bar, Dantanna offers the ultimate dining experience. With their amazing service and detail to the client experience it’s no wonder was the location of choice for our holiday soiree.
Like any holiday party, other than the great company, the food is the BEST part (well, at least to me it is). Through out the night Dantanna consistently surprised me with their succulent courses and their ability to pay attention to detail when it comes to taste and adding an unexpected element to the mix. Our night began with an appetizer plate consisting of three samplers.
Appetizer Sampler Plate:
(1.) Cajun Chicken Egg Roll- creole mustard sauce
(2.) Sesame Steak Skewers- chili, noodles, soy-ginger aioli
(3.) Charred Okra- lemon, parmesan
The amount of flavored offered by each dish was so astonishing. The seasoning, the sauces, everything was made to the T.
Our next course had to be one of my favorite parts. If you know anything about me, I’m always down for a great salad with a lot thrown in it, a tons of dressing, and a lot of flavor! And that is EXACTLY what I got. (from bottom left to top right): I’m a huge fan of fruit in my salads, I always feel as if it adds a sweet balance to my typical bitter dressing I like to add to my plate.
Our first salad was the Crab and Berry Salad which consisted of organic grown greens, seasonal berries, tropical fruit tomatoes, and a raspberry vinaigrette to tie the flavor all in.
The next salad style was the Kale Salad. I haven’t always been a fan of Kale until this past year and since then it’s been hard for me to just go back to spinach leaves in my salad (I know put it in about everything, including my smoothies). The Kale contained chopped tomatoes, carrots, little pieces of granny smith apples ( which I thought was a great twist), chopped pecans, blue cheese and topped with a herb vinaigrette.
The Spinach Salad made its debut as our third salad course for the evening which had melody.v of baby spinach leaves, tomatoes, red onion, mandarin oranges, caramelized onions, blue cheese, all topped with a champagne-lime dressing.
Last but certainly not least, and definitely most interesting was the Organic Quinoa Salad. I have never considered putting quinoa into my salad but I am so glad that Dantanna’s thought to. This salas had such great consistency in its taste and was probably my favorite salad brought out. Other than quinoa, the salad contained edamame, red peppers, dry cherries, goat cheese, shallots, spring mix and topped with a balsamic dressing.
Just when I caught my breathe after the appetizer plate and wonderful assortments of salad, the main course load was brought out, definitely in style too. If I thought the appetizers/salads had flavor, boy was I in store of yet another surprise. Our main dishes were:
(1.)Creekstone Farms Porterhouse- house signature rub, char-grilled, herb compound butter
(2.)Maine Lobster Tail Medallions- drawn butter, citrus-caper cocktail sauce
(3.)Wasabi Tuna- panko crusted ahi, pan seared, shiitake-soy glaze, lump crab
(4.) Bacon Mac & Cheese
(5.) A Kale assortment
In addition to all the great food, a lot of amazing sponsors helped tremendously in making this a very festive holiday soiree. Pictured here is the lovely Cynthia from Darling Down South with the cutest Reindeer napkin holders provided by Swoozie’s (along with the festive name cards as well).
Can it really be the holiday with out treats and sweets? The Sweet Trend went over and above providing all the amazing sugary pleasures that we all happily indulged in; yes even after all that food, we had to make sure we made our way to the dessert table.
I mean look how much detail was put into even the treats! How cools is this cookie assortment, I was sad (but not really) to be the first one to break the pattern of the cookie tray.
We all know decorations are crucial for putting together a festive and vibrant holiday party, so therefore a big thanks goes to Gold & Bloom Floral designs for creating such an elegant touch to our perfect dinner. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for any future assortments needed.
Oh! Who can forget about the presents?! Not only did our bellys get full and our hearts filled with tremendous joy with the company of friendship but we also got to leave with a few (and by a few I mean a TON) of gifts to cap the night. I want to give the following sponsors thanks for providing a little piece of them for our holiday swag bag.
Big thanks to:
LAST BUT NOT LEAST I WANT TO THANK OUR AMAZING HOST ALLISON FOR YET ANOTHER AMAZING AND FUN EVENT!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM MY{ BLOGGER} FAMILY TO YOURS!
HOLIDAY CHEER + RED COATS
I seriously CANNOT believe it is that time of year again. I feel like it was just yesterday I was downtown watching the [disco] ball drop, ringing in the New Year. Time is just flying by these days it seems; but regardless I am grateful to see yet another holiday season.
With Thanksgiving behind us, its time to get into the Christmas Spirit. If you are anything like me, Christmas time is filled with visiting family from all over the U.S., work holiday parties, white elephant soirees with my girlfriends and also volunteering at church. At times it gets tough keeping everything straight in my head but I must say this time of year is by far my favorite. With everything going on back to back sometimes it gets are to pull together looks for each event. What’s my favorite trick? Pick one staple piece that can be re-worn and recreated.
This sleeveless ribbed dress is definitely my go-to for the holiday season. Its A-line hemline creates such a feminine look that is not only darling but also very flattering. What I like to do is sit down and create at least 8 different looks with this one piece which I can throw on and then add a new element, totally recreating my look (and no one else can notice).
In this mini-post I paired my LBD with this luscious red coat that was such a steal at Ann Taylor. Not only does it add to my LBD but it completely transforms my simple look to a holiday ready look. In the past season, I put a white button down creating a total Blair Waldorf look or for a more casual look, a leather jacket tied together with sleeked back hair and a flashy statement necklace of course and a pair of my favorite pointed-toe pumps.
No matter where you are going, you don’t need to spend a fortune on a million different holiday styles. Just choose one staple and work around.
No need to work hard this holiday season, just work smart.
sincerely yours,
-Kat.

The holidays are the craziest time of the year. With holiday parties, all the cooking, gift ideas, and not to mention
figuring out what to wear for each event is just an added stress. Each year there are always a million and one things that my parents have planned for us. Our holiday season usually begins with family dinner which consists of my immediate family, a ton of cousins, aunts and uncles and my parents best friends. Since we typically invite a good amount of people I like to elevate my late a little bit while keeping it comfortable of course. After we have our dinner, we follow it up with our annual family vacation up to the lake house or a cabin up north. We started this little mini tradition about 3 1/2 years ago with my family and my best friends family and it’s by far one of the things I look forward to each year.
Whether it is dinner party at home or a company party don’t be afraid to step up your look this holiday season. I am a fan of patterns, high hems, and most definitely loud statement pieces.
My go to look for the Thanksgiving this year is most definitely going to consist of high hems and an over sized blazer like the one pictured here. I scored this over sized, classic Ralph Lauren last weekend when I went thrifting. It easily is my new favorite peice in my closet; you can pair this with your favorite skinnies or mini skirt. I decided to pair mine with this adorable pleated mini skirt from Banana Republic. The longer length of this blazer and the higher hemline of my skirt creates a cute, clean girly chic look.
I’ve also laid out a few of my favorite holiday looks for all occasions and you can also shop my look here too .

Sweaters, sweaters and more sweaters. I have officially overloaded on sweaters this season and I do not plan on stopping any time soon. Ribbed sweaters, cable knits, double weaved the options are endless. One thing I love about sweaters this season is that although we always get the classic looks each season, this time around they are playing with hemlines. This particular sweater is definitely among my top 5 for this go round. I just adore the shirttail feature on this ribbed sweater. Definitely an added touch. (P.S. this is currently on sale and an additions 40% off)
I paired this ribbed look back with my own DIY ripped skinny jeans. I have tried so many times to create my own ripped jeans for the longest time and I finally found the perfect DIY video on YouTube to help create this store bought look. If you want to try it on your own here is a link to recreate the look and here are links to shop my outfit.
Accessories are key for any outfit. I love adding a third and fourth pieces to my outfits to insert my own personal style. My favorite accessory is most definitely my fedora. It literally goes with everything and it also hides all my bad hair days while elevating my outfits. I have an assortment of fedoras and felt hats in black, brown, and burgundy.
My second go to piece on weekends are these pointed toe men inspired loafers. They give such a polished finished look no matter what you are wearing. I love pairing them with my skinny jeans, trouser pants, and the occasional joggers. Share with me how you would style and tailor your look with your own touch! Be sure to comment and add your own #mystyle.
Lastly how awesome is this vintage leather purse?! I found it in my moms closet and it was her favorite satchel in the 80’s. That’s the thing I love about fashion. No matter how much time lapses, somehow it all comes full circle. Fashion is always transposed between time and countries time and time again. It’s hard not to fall in love with it.

There hasn’t been much sunshine the past couple of days but the sun did grace us with its presence a little during this past weekend, and I made sure to take full advantage of it. A girlfriend and I decided to enjoy this beautiful day in downtown Woodstock. If you have never been before it is definitely on my list of recommended “small town” places to go. With over 10 different cuisines available, multiple boutiques and even dessert spots it’s the perfect location for a little weekend fun.
To match the great weather I thought I would dress up alittle and throw on something a little fun and vibrant. I am ALL about patterns this season; the crazier the better. This medallion print waist drop dress was the perfect buy! I was skeptical at first on the drop waist, just because I have a longer stature and sometimes the drop waist tends to elongate my torso with my already gazelle length legs but I finally found this perfect one.
I paired it with these flirty caged heels that I grabbed for a whopping $30 at Call It Spring. Any pair of shoes that are under $50 are a must buy for sure!
Now if only this rain would go away I would totally bring this little number out again, [no shame]

One of the things i love the most about the Fall, are all the beautiful colors. From olive, to burgundy, to burnt orange the colors are endless. Recently I’ve had an obsession withe this mustard yellow color. Honestly although it’s pretty out there of a color, it almost acts like a neutral for my closet. I love pairing this color with grey, navy, black..the options are endless. In addition to this great color, how awesome is this style? Cowl neck has definitely made it’s appearance often and has made its way to being one of fall’s staple piece you MUST have in your closet. They are not only super cozy but they are excellent for the colder months. I love using cowl necks as an alternative to a scarf; my neck and face are the first things that freeze when the temperatures drop. I have definitely made sure to stock up on quite a few cowl neck styled sweaters.
Another fall must have that has taken this season by storm are JOGGERS! How great is it that wearing “sweatpants” is no longer a fashion faux pas in society. The best thing about joggers are that not only are they extremely comfortable but they pair with everything. The tricky part about them for sure is getting the right fit and being able to dress them up. The good thing is that there are hundreds of different styles that are tailored to your style. Pair your favorite joggers to a nice silhouette to dress it up or maybe a t-shirt and some cute sneakers for a laid back weekend look for running errands.

Everyone says diamonds are a girls best friend, but that girl clearly has never had a designer purse. I would say hands down, my favorite accessory is by far a handbag. I’ve had this obsession for such a long time and my closet is definitely living proof of that addiction. This past NYFW, the girls and I had the opportunity to attend an event hosted by Bellabag and other amazing companies. If you follow me on social media, you remember that luscious cherry read Louis Vutton bowling bag and that vibrant tangerine Celine handbag that was featured basically in every picture? Yup, that was curiosity of Bella Bag.
Bella Bag is known for their prestige pre-loved
luxury bags from designers like Chanel, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Bottega Venta, Dior and so much more. And to top off our already AMAZING trip thus far, Bellabag offered our own selection of handbags to choose from to trot around with around the city in. Let’s just say, designer handbags are totally the new girls best friend.
To my pleasure and surprise, when I got home I discovered Atlanta’s very own location of Bellabag which recently opened in Buckhead. I decided to pay it a visit and boy was I in heaven. Designers list from A-Z, I was surrounded by vintage style and modernized designs everywhere. The best part of it all, the price points are far more reasonable than paying the “MSRP” pricing on a handbag. So there is an option for everyone.
Going into this new season, TREAT YOUR SELF, and do yourself a favor and head down to a local Bellga Bag today or visit www.bellabag.com to shop on line. This is definitely a game changer.
In addition to our amazing time at Bella Bag we received the great pleasure of meeting the CEO and founder of Priv, Alain Schibl. Priv is your one-stop destination for all your beauty and wellness needs, on demand. Don’t have time to go to a salon, not a problem, download the Priv app and they can come to you. This amazing feautre is definitely beneifcal for wedding parties, birthday glams, and so much more. We were fortunate enough to fully receive the Priv experience with makeup and hair retouches. With it’s 6 locations nationwide and one location in London, be sure to stop by if you are ever in the neighborhood.
Welcome to New York, It’s Been Waiting For You
10.02.2015
Well as fashion show seasons comes to a wrap up it’s only fitting to start back from the very beginning. Growing up I’ve always seen the madness of what is New York Fashion week but only from the likes of the fashion magazines and blogs or the ever so famous best dressed/worst dressed expose on Fashion Police, but actually experiencing it for yourself? Now that is a different story.
New York has always had my heart from the moment I stepped off that plane for the first time in my late teenage years. The one thing that draws me to the city, as am I’m sure it does for other people, is that variety of not only the neighborhoods but also the people that live there. And during NYFW, fashion is no different. The vibrant colors, delicate silhouettes, textures, pattern mixing and risky hemlines just made me fall even more in love with the city; no street or style was found to be the same.
Needless to say I took that I took the same route when styling my wardrobe for my weekend in the big city. The difficult part about any tupe of trip is figuring out what to pack. What is the weather changes? (which by the way, there were two unexpected days of rain) What if I don’t like what I packed once I’m actually there? So of course for me who is always panicking about every little detail, packing was a nightmare. After a long night of outfit planning with my God sent cousins I finally made my final list of things to bring. And here was one of my favorite looks.
I decided to bring a little bit of fall into the mix with my cropped mustard sweater but highlight the last few weeks we had left of spring with my cobalt blue high slit skirt. Both are great transitional pieces for each season which is why I loved this outfit. I paired my side zipper men inspired booties which was a GREAT call due to the amount of walking we did from event to event and from standing on our feet for long periods of time. But my all time favorite piece of my outfit is my gorgeous Chanel satchel. Thanks to Bella Bag we were all decked out in some of our favorite designer handbags. It was the perfect finishing touch to all of our looks each day.

{FALL}in’ for Floral
08.26.15
Now that I am back in school, weekends have a totally different meaning. Other than being my catch up on errands and school work day (s), I’ve now made sure that my weekends are all about relaxing, hanging out with friends, and new adventures. After a rough first week of classes, lectures, and labs I decided to go down the square with a good friend of mine and just spend time in the city.
If you’ve ever been to the Marietta Square you know there are TONS of things to do.There are multiple options of cafes, great cuisine, a theater, a Gone with the Wind historic shop, at least 3 shops for those with a wicked sweet tooth, and so much more. Friday’s weather was just another hot, Georgia summer day but with this awesome top from Eleven Lilie’s boutique I was able to stay cool enough to get through all of our outside fun.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions recently asking how I transition my Summer wardrobe to Fall, especially since in Georgia we don’t start feeling the fall weather until the very end of September.
Here are some of my tips:
(1) Change your color scheme. Even though it’s not ideal to bring out your chunky sweaters and winter scarves just yet, you can really start transition into the fall season with your colors. That is why I LOVE this Eleven Lillie’s Boutique “Hippie Chic Top”. The colors on this top are muted and are darker hues than you would find in the summer time.
(2) You can start wearing sleeves but lighten up on the material. Like I said before, Georgia’s summer heat doesn’t seem to cool down until about mid or late September. What makes it even more difficult, it seems as if all the stores have began their “fall season styles” whereas the weather insists on 90+ degree temperatures. Here’s my advice to you, don’t be afraid of some length or sleeves, just be cautious on the fabric found at your local retailer. Although my top had full sleeves, its’ light and cooling material made it bearable to run around town and being outside.
(3) Change up your accessories. When I think fall I tend to think booties, scarfs and wool hats. Definitely don’t be afraid to incorporate those pieces into your wardrobe. I live in booties, loafers and oxfords during the fall and winter seasons. It’s okay to be a little ahead of the game when it comes to dressing for the season. As long as look cute doing it, who cares right?

Moon & Lola x Bourbon & Boweties x Courtney Kerr
07.10.15
This was probably the best Thursday I’ve ever had. My girl friend and I took a trip down to Merchant at Howell Mill to the first look event of an amazing collaboration of Moon & Lola and Bourbon & Boweties. Despite the Atlanta evening heat, I don’t think anything could have ruined tonight.
Pictured above are the creators. Carley Ochs {in floral dress} is the founder of Bourbon & Bowties and Kelly Shatat {in pink}, Moon and Lola.
Just when I thought the night couldn’t get any better; awesome music, great food from Bar Taco, and refreshing drinks, I also got the opportunity to meet Courtney Kerr from Courtney Loves Dallas and What Courtney Wore. Courtney has always been my inspiration when it comes to fashion and style; in fact her site was among the few that motivated me to step into the fashion world so it’s only fitting a year later I meet her right?
During my chat with Courtney I had to ask her the question that I had been dying to know from her from the time I became her ultimate fan girl:
Me: What set you apart from other bloggers and fashion icons the time of your upcoming?
Courtney: “What set me apart was trying to do something that was different from what everyone else was doing. I wanted to stand out.”
Me: “So what advice can you give me as starting fashion blogger”
Courtney: “Just figure out what your thing is and run with it. If you’re the girl with the red lips, be the girl with the red lips. Also just don’t try to hard; be yourself”
In addition to her great style, she was also the sweetest thing ever and gave awesome advice {p.s. she also complimented my outfit and said I was chic=day MADE}
All of the products on display were absolutely breathe taking. It was hard to be good when so many great goodies were around. But don’t worry I began adding things to my cart online as soon as I got home.
How cute is this little record player set up with the charms?
{Georgia on My Mind}
We couldn’t have celebrated Moon & Lola and Bourbon & Boweties collaboration the way we did tonight if it weren’t for the amazing hosts of The Merchant & Co at Howell Mill. This cute Westside shop is “the curator of gift-ware, stationary, and vintage goods.” As you can see everything inside was eye catching and presented so beautifully.
Definitely one of the best experiences that I have had.
Just One of the Boys

Everyone knows a good pair of jeans can go a long way. My long legs and thin physique make it a little difficult to find the “perfect fit”. Over the years I’ve learned which fits have suited my body type well, which cuts are more flattering and which stores offer exactly what I need my jeans to be. For me my two go to style of jeans are the super skinny jeans and the boyfriend jean. I love the skinny jeans because they offer the most flattery around wanted ares and allows me to feel flirty and girly. I love pairing my skinnies with cute flats, gladiator sandals, and sometimes cute pumps. My second favorite pair are my boyfriend jeans (pictured above). Not many people appreciate the boyfriend jeans because it does offer a baggy relaxed look and some don’t deem that to be flattering. I personally LOVE my boyfriend jeans; what many don’t realize there are multiple ways you can pull of boyfriend jeans.
Here I have styled my BF jeans with a simple black tank and my favorite leather sneakers. This is typically my go to look when I have a busy day running errands or just kick back and relaxing at the lake with some friends. You can also match up your bf jeans with heels and a cute blouse topped off with maybe a blazer for a more put together look. The trick is to find bf jeans that fit in the important areas so do you don’t feel like you are just wearing a bag 🙂 Pictured here are bf jeans from Nordstrom. They fit perfectly in the butt area, waist and upper thighs and then relax more and more as they go down. I love this fit because it highlights my womanly areas while still providing the relaxed look I am searching for.

LBD
Every girl knows that having a LBD is a must. If you’re anything like me you have like 20 LBD’s hanging in your closet. One for fancy occasions, one for nights out, one for running errands, and the list goes on and on. Regardless of how many you have make sure you have at least one good one you can call your “everyday LBD”. This one is mine. On days I’m not working and know I am going to be running around town doing errands I like to make sure I am comfortable, but also still looking cute. I tend to lean more towards the t-shirt dresses for these occasions. Most t-shirt dresses offer the comfort that is desired but also leave room to style/dress it up however your personality tailors it. I like to add jewelry and sometimes a belt to change up my look and then pair it back with some cute sandals.
Outfit details linked below:
How unique is this fringe belt. BCBG is so innovative when it comes to their accessories. Not to mention their patterns and color mixtures are always so fresh! This bodycon dress is such a fun flirty and sexy look that is perfect for s night out but also for formal events! Be sure to check this whole look out on their site!
ITS ALL ABOUT THAT {LACE}
White is such a summer staple and one that can be carried from season to season {yes even after Labor Day}. Whites just give a clean crisp look; when paired with lace it gives you a very classy, classic look. This BCBG dress does all the above. With its flared , intricate lace details the sleeves on this number add a a fresh and flirty summer look.
LITTLE EXPLORER
The brighter the better. For such a long time I was self-conscious of what colors I wore & which made me look the best & which ones did nothing for me. But the more confident I got in color, the more I ran with it & now I have nothing but color in my closet. I love this side cut out dress. It’s super easy to throw on but also an awesome statement piece!
SOFT AND DELICATE
Soft pallets go a long way. In addition to mixing textures, mixing lengths can add versitility to your closet. Soft palletes & neutrals can play a big role in being a basic in each and every outfit. I love mixing crop tops & maxi skirts to really bring out my long legs. Not only is this look super easy to create, it’s also very comfortable!
PRINTED SATURDAYS
Prints are out and ready to play. All the prints out in stores are all so vibrant and colorful and i couldn’t be more happier. With prints don’t be afraid to mix patterns, textures and colors. The louder the better, at least to me. Find your favorite color/print and make it your own. This little number has quickly become one of my favorite patters and is at LOFT right now for 40% off which makes this gloomy Monday a little bit better!

BIRTHDAY BEHAVIOR
yesterday I celebrated my 22nd birthday and I can honestly say it’s the best one yet! As part of my gift my mom got this handmade Kenyan dresses for me and definitely executed in incorporating and portraying my style and personality into it! You don’t have to take a flight to kenya to get your own dress made. There are plenty of sites in which you can buy fabric and get your own custom made dress made! Below is one that is one of my favorite!

Go to this link, pick out your fabric and then take it to a seamstress or tailor and let them know how you would like yours made. Here are some more examples of customized outfits!
EASTER SUNDAY!
Loved this soft girlie Easter sunday look! Loft really outdid themselves this spring with this lace detail pencil skirt. I adore it’s detail and femininity, definjtely a must have for this season. Hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter Day!
JUMP JUMP!
JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! I think it is safe to say jumpsuits are all the rage this season and I totally get why. Jumpsuits provide 3 things:Comfort, Effortless dressing, and provide a fashion forward look. Along with the big 3, jumpsuits make it easy to dress up or dress down. Classic jumpsuits like the one I’m wearing here can be paired with not only bright pumps but also with sneakers for a more relaxed causal look or flats for a relaxed elevated look. You can always add jewelry to [spice] up your look or add a signature handbag.
The trick to jumpsuits is the fit. Every-time I wear my jumpsuits out I always hear “Oh they look good on you because you’re tall”. WRONG!! You have to buy a jumpsuit that fits your body type. For me, because I’m tall I am able to wear jumpsuits that either have a flared or tailored leg (like above). Typically I advise those who are shorter to first look and see if the jumpsuit comes in a petite size and secondly get one with a more tailored leg. If a shorter gets one with a flared leg it adds way too much volume for a shorter natured to avoid that “stumpy” look. Same advice goes to body types. If you are bustier look for jumpsuits that contain a more blousier look on top to give you more breathing room. Regardless of all these just find a jumpsuits that accentuates your best features that you can rock confidently.
PALM SUNDAY
There’s nothing I love more than an all white look. White is just such a fresh crisp color going into the spring and fall. I typically like to pair my all white look with a vibrant color third piece. IN this case I went with a bright cobalt blue d’orsay pump. Statement necklaces can be another substitution as your “WOW” piece. However you like to add color add your own personal style. Although this is an all white look there are ways to make it stand out. I chose to wear a pleated lace full skirt to add texture and then paired it back with a classic white button down. Don’t be afraid to mix textures even when doing a nondemocratic look. Other alternatives could be a textures sweater or maybe even a a layered tank to add to the fullness of the skirt. What ever it may be, just be comfortable and feel fabulous in what you wear.

FEELIN’ A LITTLE BLUE
Some days its harder to get up and get dressed than others, but than doesn’t mean you cant still me chic doing it. Men inspired fashion is my favorite look on those days I don’t feel like putting into much effort. Classic black skinnies with a lightweight scoop neck shirt paired with black short booties are an excellent combo. You can keep the look subtle with a side tie of your t-shirt or add a scarf to have a three piece outfit.
Essential Scoop Neck Tee / Mid Rise Ultra Skinny Jeans/ OverSized Square Scarf / Classic Aviators
Flirty with a little bit of sass. I adore the softness of this delicate lace skirt and hi-lo knit paired with these side zip loafers adding a little edge to this look. Our location this week was so much fun to shoot at as well; nothing is sassier than graffiti 🙂
Scallop Lace Mini Skirt/ Leather Shoes / Asymmetrical Tee
Even though fall weather is my all time favorite, it was nice getting a little warm weather this weekend; Sometimes I find it difficult to dress in the mornings because my days are so schedule packed I don’t often have time to go back home and change if the temps drop or climb and it’s a hassle always packing outfits to leave in your car. In the past I’ve found that the best solution is to dress for all weather in one outfit. Saturday I wore this fun, flirty dress from Forever 21 to compensate for the warm weather we had in the morning and early afternoon but then added this oversized cardigan from Francesca’s for when the cooler air started dragging in and then paired it with one of my favorite pairs of combat boots to harden this soft look (adding a little edge). Living in Georgia requires you to not only shop smart but dress smart, especially between transitioning season.
Lace Halter Dress (similar here)/ Long Sweater Wrap
Never did I think there was a way feminize an oxford but Loft sure proved me wrong. Completely loving this tailed white oxford that has a button detail down the spine of the blouse. I love the cool and light fabric this blouse is made up which makes perfect for this unpredictable Georgia weather. this past weekend I took it back to the basics by pairing this “not so classical” oxford with a rich burgundy corduroy; which also makes an awesome transition fall piece. I’ve also worn this blouse with denim to make for a more casual look and added a scarf as a third piece. So many fun way to play with such an easy top.
Fall colors are the best colors. Something about the rich tones and deep colors makes me fall more in love with this season every year.

School is back in session; summer is over but the weather deems otherwise. Sportin’ my favorite DIY high waisted shorts with Loft’s lightweight lace detailed cami. And who can forget this beautiful Charming Charlies’ flower petal necklace. In Georgia, it’s summer forever and I’m okay with that.
